Step back in time and visit The New Zealand Timber Museum which celebrates and preserves the history of the Timber Industry in New Zealand. The South Waikato has had a strong connection with the industry dating back to 1903. The Museum is located on the old Tuck and Watkins mill site and retains most of the original equipment and machinery that was used.
Spread over a five hectare site complete with native plantings, it is the perfect place to break a journey. The Museum is the repository of several historic buildings; where else can you marry in an old fashioned church or celebrate a special occasion in an original small town hotel. Located just three kilometres from Putaruru on State Highway One.
