The Museum is housed in the old Tuakau Post Office built in 1912. The building is itself of historical interest as not many post offices of this classic style remain.
Next door is the Mission hall, built in 1899, originally used for religious services by several denominations and moved to its present site in 2007. It houses a collection of antique printing equipment in working order. Other collections include local maori and colonial artefacts, a military corner, domestic ware and a wide variety of articles, records and photographs which visitors are welcome to access for family research.
The Museum is open on Sundays between 1 and 3.30 pm. Arrangements can be made for tour parties and school groups to visit during the week.
