The University of Canterbury has been host to hundreds of international students over a period of more than 40 years. Currently there are 2000 international students from 70 countries enrolled in a wide variety of programmes.
Since its establishment in 1873 the University of Canterbury has gained an international reputation for academic excellence in teaching and research.
Undergraduate programmes are offered in Arts (Humanities and Social Sciences), Commerce, Education, Engineering, Law, Music, Fine Arts, Forestry, Science, Social Work, and Speech and Language Therapy. Postgraduate qualifications range from graduate and postgraduate diplomas, to Honours, Masters and purely research-based PhD degrees.
