Waitakaruru Arboretum & Sculpture Park

Carved into a hillside this 42 acre former quarry has been transformed into a magnificent collection of trees and shrubs, This landscape provides the setting for the more than 70 sculptures on display -- the park is the most extensive outdoor sculpture gallery in New Zealand. Featuring three new shows per year, the park is open daily from 10 am until dusk. Entry fees: $8 per adult.

All weather walking tracks (sturdy shoes recommended) and ample parking; selected sections accessible by wheelchair.
