YHA Te Aroha is one of the original YHA New Zealand hostels, a cosy century-old cottage in the spa town of Te Aroha in the Thames Valley, just two hours drive from Auckland. The Te Aroha backpacker hostel is located at the top of Te Aroha town with great views, fabulous sunsets and a lovely garden filled with native kanuka trees, frequently visited by New Zealand birds - tuis, wood pigeons and warblers. The Te Aroha hostel is ideal backpacker accommodation for unwinding or escaping the crowded cities with its cosy rooms, garden hammocks and rural bush setting.
We have free bikes for exploring Te Aroha’s town and the wetlands area and also immediate access to a large number of stunning bush walks.
