Milford Sound Airport; the gateway to the magnificent Milford Sound set in the breathtaking Fiordland.
The flight into this airport is just breathtaking as you fly over the full length of the Sound before touching down. Once you land you step out of the plane to see the full majestic beauty of the area.
No grey arrivals hall or grumpy security guards here!
You can fly into Milford Sound from Queenstown and the flight takes around 45 minutes flying first over Queenstown, then taking in the amazing scenery of Fiordland and Mt Aspiring National Park before reaching Milford Sound.
If flying isn't your thing you can base yourself in Te Anau and jump on a coach through to Milford Sound.
You won't want to sleep as the scenery is breathtaking. There are some great places to stop on the drive up including Mirror Lake.
The trip through Homer Tunnel is an experience in itself (and a little scary too!)
