The Hills, Queenstown
The New Zealand PGA golf championship is played at the exclusive Hills course where dreams turn into reality for both players and spectators. The golf is challenging, the scenery is breathtaking and you’re surrounded by world-famous wineries, top notch restaurants, luxury places to stay and masses of things to do. So, whether you’re a golfer, or not, this is a tournament not to be missed.
The PGA Championship format is unusual - amateurs play alongside professionals and there are individual and team competitions – so it’s great to watch.
The Hills is New Zealand’s most challenging tournament course which is attractive to ace golfers. But the rugged setting in a dramatic glacial valley also makes it a magnificent destination for spectators. The course has family-friendly facilities and panoramic views of Queenstown’s famous alpine landscape – just one of the reasons this is our top tourist destination.

If you want to just relax and soak up the scenery, ‘Main Street’ is the place to be whether you’re there for the tournament or just visiting the region. There’ll be lively entertainment, retail stalls and food and wine tents where you can sample some of the pinot noir and other wines this area is famous for.
Queenstown is the perfect place for indulgence – it’s also New Zealand’s adventure capital - so whether your pleasure is sport, relaxation or any luxury pursuit, you’ll find your fix here.
