5. The Course
Terrace Downs Resort has been rated as one of the top courses and golfing destinations in New Zealand – for so many reasons. At par 72, the course is challenging. However, a choice of four tees on each hole ensures the course caters for a range of golfing abilities. The 6,440-metre long course incorporates 11 lakes and 70 bunkers, providing plenty of obstacles for even the most experienced player.
4. The Culture
You’ve come all this way for an authentic Kiwi experience – Terrace Downs Resort is 100% New Zealand owned. Staff members have a great deal of local knowledge and are known for their warm South Island hospitality. They enjoy sharing local insights with guests.
3. The Chalets
Designed for comfort, these architecturally-designed three to four bedroom homes have Mt Hutt views and are situated amongst the front nine holes of the golf course. They boast modern conveniences, with indoor/outdoor living areas, giving groups and families the space to truly “get away from it all.” The Terrace Villa suites are also popular – self-contained with one to three bedrooms. Terrace Downs Resort caters to guests of all ages, from around the world.
2. The Surprises
On my last visit to Terrace Downs Resort, I found an art exhibition on in Hunters Steak House – by a local artist who brought South Island landscapes, from Lindis Pass to Pigeon Bay, to life.
On any visit to Terrace Downs, you may find a special offer to suit your plans – from brunch specials to bed and breakfast deals.
And although best known for golf, horse trekking and trout or salmon fishing will also add to your South Island experience – all on your doorstep at Terrace Downs!
1. The Spa
Year-round, The Spa is a certain favourite, for respite from the fairway or simply an alternative, with its mountain views and massage treatments. It’s a true sanctuary to escape the stresses of daily life – or just those of the past 18 holes!
There are so many ways to Experience Mid Canterbury - fantastic places to stay and people to meet.
