Rotorua is renowned for its geothermal activity, it is also considered a spa destination. Not only does it create a wonderland scenery, but the heat coming from the earth is used for many things. At the Econo Lodge Cleveland Motel we have our own geothermal bore that we use to heat our motel rooms all year round, our swimming pool and we have two hot mineral pools. This is the perfect winter destination!
As soon as you drive in to Rotorua you will be greeted by the smell of sulphur, and you can see steam coming out of the seethes and cracks in the streets. For a close up look of the geothermal activity at its best Rotorua offers various geothermal parks that you can visit. In these parks you can see a variety of geysers, hot springs, boiling mud pools and hissing craters up close.
