Methodology

To capture our visitors’ entire New Zealand experience, the Visitor Experience Monitor is carried out once they have returned to their home countries.

For the 2007/08 research, a total of 4711 visitors took part by completing an online survey.

The visitors came from all of New Zealand’s major markets: UK (20%), Australia (16%), US (12%), Japan (6%), Canada (5%), Asia including China & Korea (18%), Germany (5%) and other European countries (8%).

Summaries of the visitor experience monitor for these markets can be read in the individual Market Guides.

The Visitor Experience Monitor (formerly referred to as Visitor Satisfaction research) was also conducted in 2004/05, 2005/06 and 2006/07. New areas of research have been added each year, for example satisfaction with New Zealand’s natural environment was measured for the first time in 2006/07.

Significant comparative data is referred to when available.
