Geyser, Rotorua
The lakeside city of Rotorua features major thermal activity. The Lady Knox Geyser is a remarkable feature of the Waiotapu Thermal area. In the 19th Century prisoners washed clothes here, their soap would cause the geyser to erupt. Today, the geyser has to be triggered by soap.
