Whakapapa Ski Area, Mount Ruapehu
Skiers enjoy the Whakapapa ski area on Mount Ruapehu. Ruapehu means the ‘explosive sounding crater’, and last erupted in 1996. It is the highest mountain in the North Island and is ideal for skiing and hiking.
