The Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake Tekapo
A memorial to the pioneers of the Mackenzie Country, the Church of the Good Shepherd rests on the shores of Lake Tekapo. The church was sited so that the altar window would frame a magnificent view of the Southern Alps. To reflect the area’s sheep farming heritage, the figure of Jesus carved into the altar carries a lamb firmly under one arm.
