An inspiring view of Mount Aspiring National Park Mt Aspiring National Park encompasses the upper reaches of several major valleys - the Arawhata, Waipara and Waiototo on the western side, and the Matukituki and Wilkin on the eastern side. These valleys were carved by the large glaciers of the last ice ages, and bring areas of low altitude into the heart of the mountains. Several of the park’s most popular walks involve trekking along the valley floors. Photo credit: N. Peat, © Department of Conservation 2004
