Routeburn Falls, just off the Routeburn Track
The Routeburn Track is one of New Zealand's classic hikes. It climbs from the Routeburn Valley through dramatic alpine scenery to a high mountain pass. The beautiful Routeburn Falls are just a minute's walk from the Routeburn Falls Hut - mountain parrots (kea) are often seen here. Riflemen, bellbirds, robins, yellow crowned parakeets, yellowheads and fantails are other birds to look for.
