Fishing heaven, Lake Taupo
The first trout fry were released into Lake Taupo more than 100 years ago. Today the lake and its connecting rivers represent one of the most prolific wild trout fisheries in the world. Both rainbow and brown trout can be caught here - more easily if you take a local guide. The daily limit is three fish.
