Queen Mary 2, Auckland
The Queen Mary 2, the largest cruise liner to visit New Zealand, was welcomed into Auckland by thousands of spectators and a flotilla of boats in February 2006. QM2 was in Auckland for one day as part of its 'around the world in 80 days' inaugural voyage. The 61m high and 345m long cruise liner was a spectacular site as it glided past Rangitoto Island on a spectacular summer morning. Passengers spent the day in port exploring Auckland's sites and activities before departing amongst an impressive fireworks display at 10pm.
