Canoeing safari, Whanganui river
In early times there were Maori villages along the length of the sheltered Whanganui River valley. The river was easy to navigate and there were abundant food sources. Today the river delivers a long, peaceful adventure for groups in Canadian canoes. Most safaris depart from Cherry Grove near Taumarunui.
