Kaikoura mountainscape.
Most people visit Kaikoura to see the whales, but the beauty of the landscape is just as compelling. The Seaward Kaikoura Range rises up almost directly out of the sea in places; running parallel to the west is the Inland Kaikoura Range. With peaks close to 3000 metres high, these are serious mountains.
