Mount Cook reflection
Tranquil Lake Matheson, on the South Island’s west coast, is famous for its reflections of New Zealand’s tallest peaks – Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. The tiny lake is protected from the wind, so its waters are millpond still. For even more visual drama, aim to visit the lake at sunrise or sunset.
