Seal encounter, Abel Tasman National Park New Zealand fur seals have pointy noses and long whiskers. They also have visible external ears, a characteristic that adds to their appeal. Adult females are relatively petite, growing to about 1.2 metres in length and around 40kg in weight. Males are longer and can weigh up to 160kg.
