Walking the Russell waterfront
Historic buildings and a seaside setting give Russell a romantic personality - it’s hard to believe this town was once called the ‘hell hole of the Pacific’. Today it’s a holiday town, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. The township can be accessed by road, but it’s easier to get there by catching a ferry in Paihia.
