Kereru, the native wood pigeon
New Zealand wood pigeons, kereru in the Maori language, are large birds with a distinctive ‘white singlet’. They feed on berries, and sometimes get drunk because the fruit ferments in their crops. When under the influence of fermented berries they’re known to do aerobatics, including loop the loops.
