Ocean Beach, Kawhia
The west coast beach of Kawhia makes a great wilderness escape. At low tide, geothermally heated water bubbles up through the black sand – you can dig your own spa pool. Several charter fishing boats operate out of Kawhia Harbour – catch your own dinner or simply enjoy a day on the ocean.
