Tongariro landscape
In the Tongariro National Park you can see how the forces of volcanism and erosion have created an otherworldly landscape of craters, peaks, basins, lakes, lava flows and valleys. The one day hike known as the Tongariro Crossing is the best way to appreciate this extraordinary place. The route is clear of snow from December to May.
