Flaxmill Bay
From the Coromandel township of Whitianga, you can catch a ferry across the harbour to Front Beach and Flaxmill Bay – sheltered, north-facing beaches that are perfect for swimming and exploring. Nearby Shakespeare Cliff has a short track leading to a vantage point with huge views of Mercury Bay. The arrival of Captain Cook in 1769 is recorded here.
