Based in Auckland since November 2001, Alinghi raced every cup team in Auckland over the summer - except Team New Zealand. Some of yachting's best brains are involved in the Alinghi Challenge – many of them New Zealanders who jumped ship from Team New Zealand. Skipper Russell Coutts and tactician Brad Butterworth have joined forces with 'baby billionaire' Ernesto Bertarelli to launch a serious $US55 million challenge.
