Untouched alpine wilderness as far as the eye can see.

Mount Aspiring National Park is New Zealand’s third largest national park. Unspoilt by development, and with wilderness areas that are fully protected, the park is included in the South West New Zealand World Heritage Area. Mount Aspiring, a pyramid-shaped peak sometimes called ‘The Matterhorn of the South’, crowns a heavily glaciated area that is popular with mountaineers and heli-skiiers. The Department of Conservation visitor centres in Wanaka and Makarora can provide information and advice about park activities.
