Mou Waho Island, Wanaka Mou Waho Island, in the centre of Lake Wanaka, is an extraordinary native flora and fauna reserve. The island is craggy and forested with several beaches. Near the top is an idyllic little lake called the Arethusa Pool – an excellent place for a picnic. From Wanaka township it’s easy to organise a boat to take you to Mou Waho.
