Surf frolic, Mount Maunganui
Mount Maunganui’s glorious surf beach is patrolled by lifeguards throughout the summer and by volunteers for the rest of the year. The busiest section of the beach is close to Mauao, the dormant volcano at the tip of the Mount Maunganui peninsula. If you walk eastward toward Papamoa you’ll find fewer people and more beach to call your own.
