Trout fishing, LakeTaupo Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest, formed explosively in 126AD. The massive volcanic eruption shifted about one thousand cubic kilometres of earth. Thirty rivers and streams flow into the lake, which is New Zealand’s premier trout fishing destination. Most fish caught are rainbow trout, averaging 4 pounds.
