Artist's Palette, Waiotapu
Waiotapu is one of the central North Island’s most extensive geothermal areas. It takes three to four hours to walk around the reserve, which is known for its brightly coloured crater lakes and silica terraces. The many colours of the Artist’s Palette are caused by the minerals that are brought to the surface by geothermal activity.
