Arriving in the Hokianga
Some of the oldest traces of Maori settlement can be found in the Hokianga region; you’ll also discover that modern Maori culture is very much alive in this part of Northland. In many small towns on both sides of the magnificent harbour, life revolves around the marae (village centre).
