From Manawatu it’s an easy drive south to the shops, restaurants and theatres of Wellington. For a quieter type of holiday, travel north west to the Taranaki region, which is admired for its surf beaches, gardens and mountain walks.

Wellington - Taupo - Wellington (7 Days)
Take a loop around some of the lower North Island’s most interesting places. Heritage, culture, vineyards, and beautiful pastureland make up this route which passes through Palmerston North.
