NZ Backcountry Saddle Expeditions is situated 27km from Wanaka up the historic Cardrona Valley. It has been in operation for over 20 years and is a Qualmark Endorsed Visitor Activity.
We offer a unique experience on horseback as we ride Appaloosa horses outfitted in western saddles. This breed of horse copes well in mountainous conditions and it's temperament is level and well suited for the varying abilities and ages of our riders. The horses are "barefoot" and trained in natural horsemanship.
All our guides have current first aid certification and are well versed in the history of the surrounding area.
We offer 2hr rides twice daily, and full day rides (4-6hrs)with lunch included.
Transport is available.
Bookings are essential.
