Arrive into Auckland, the City of Sails and experience the contrast of the rugged West Coast beaches from the multicultural city. Head north to the Bay of Islands, a sub tropical paradise encompassing the Maori spirituality.

On day five, journey to Rotorua via the iconic Waitomo glowworm caves, and arrive into a geothermal wonderland. Next is Wellington, the nations capital and home to New Zealand's national museum, Te Papa.

From Wellington, catch the InterIslander Ferry to the South Island port if Picton. From here, catch the famous TranzCoastal train to the South Islands largest city of Christchurch. While onboard you will travel through the Marlborough winerey region and view the spectacular coastal scenerey in and around Kaikoura.

Christchurch, the 'Garden City' is full of beautiful parks and home to many gothic style churches and buildings. Take time to sightsee in this English style city and then continue on to experience the Scottish heritage of Dunedin.

Heading back across the South Island on day thirteen you'll arrive into Queenstown, home to adventure galore as well as more serene activities such as a lake cruises, farm visits and wine tasting. The landscape alone will take your breath away.

Remember to take your camera to iconic Milford Sound as the dramatic fiords drop into the water. And keep it handy when you are at Franz Josef glacier on day seventeen, another scenic feat but this time on the West Coast of the South Island.
