Auckland city straddles a narrow piece of land between the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours and is flanked by the South Pacific Ocean to the east and the Tasman Sea to the west.
It is no wonder that with these spectacular physical and geographic conditions it is known by locals and visitors alike as a sailing and boating paradise.

A purpose built village to support the America's Cup Regatta with syndicates, corporates, superyachts and the public together in one venue, the American Express Viaduct Harbour is the first of its kind in the world. From here spectators can watch the launch of the America's Cup challengers.

Flanked by two magnificent harbours, the Waitemata to the east and the Manukau to the west, Auckland is a half urban, half marine cosmopolitan experience, with a lifestyle regularly ranked in the world's top ten.

In just half an hour you can be almost anywhere - sailing to one of the many islands dotting Auckland's harbours, trekking through the rainforest, picnicking on a volcano, sampling wines at a vineyard or wandering on a wild, black sand surf beach.

Auckland does the urban side of life just as well. America's Cup activity has added an infusion of exciting new restaurants and bars in the stylish precincts of Parnell, Ponsonby and the Viaduct Basin. For great city shopping, head for High Street and the shopping area known as the Chancery. Or catch the Link Bus to Parnell, Newmarket and Ponsonby.
