Westland Tai Poutini National Park Visitor Centre & i-SITE is located on the Main Rd, Franz Josef and open daily (except Christmas Day). Come and see us for information on the walks, tramps, route guides, and weather reports for the Franz Josef and Fox Glacier areas. We have great displays which explain how glaciers are formed, why it rains so much, and history of the area. The Edge of Wilderness video tells the story of Te Wahipounamu - World Heritage Area. Visit the historic Defiance Hut, an early alpine hit moved to the Visitor Centre. We also provide a booking service allowing you to book all your activities and accommodation.
