Napier’s unique Art Deco heritage sets the scene for a festival that recalls the hedonistic roar of the thirties jazz scene.
Deco Decanted Jazz Festival (17 - 19 July) is a celebration of the Art Deco era, showcasing Napier’s world-renowned Art Deco architecture with a feast of music, wining, dining and dancing in Hawke’s Bay style.
In the groove
With jazz as the central theme, the festival programme covers a variety of events from dining experiences to a range of entertainment and activities for those who want to kick up their heels and get into the jazz groove.
Activities for all the family include Art Deco guided walks, a classic cinema showcase, and dinner jazz celebrations.
Weekend highlights
The weekend highlight, the ‘Jump Jive Dine and Dance’ - on Friday and Saturday nights - provides an ultimate dine and dance experience in the Art Deco Municipal theatre.
The spectacular ‘Jazzamatazz’ is a Mardi-Gras style celebration of jazz music that takes to the Art Deco streets, with a variety of styles, sounds and venues.
The Deco Decanted Jazz Festival is organised by the Napier Art Deco Trust.
