'The Hobbit' production blogs

The Hobbit director Sir Peter Jackson is documenting behind-the-scenes production on the films through a series of blogs.

Since The Hobbit began filming in March 2011, Jackson has been giving fans a regular sneak peek into his Wellington film empire and on location throughout New Zealand.

The diaries reveal what it takes to make the movies, with glimpses into the costume, armory and prosthetics departments at Weta Workshop, movie sets at Stone Street Studios, edit suites at Park Road Post, and the production offices of 3 foot 7.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, have been shot in 48 frames per second to make the films appear more ‘life-like’, and will be released in both 3D and 2D in theatres worldwide in December 2012, and 2013.
