International flavour heats up competition at Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Week

Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Week returns to the deep south of New Zealand from 6-10 March 2007 to celebrate the latest local and international fashion collections.
In its fifth year, the week-long fashion event showcases the work of twenty three fashion labels including international New Zealand fashion icons such as Nom D, Carlson and Mild Red, who live and work in the city as well as providing a platform to launch emerging designers.
One of the week's highlights is the culmination of talent for the Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show on 10 March 2007. Set in the grand surrounds of the century-old Dunedin Railway Station, the 100-metre long catwalk plays host to the latest designs from some of New Zealand's premiere fashion designers.
The Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show will feature nine designers in the designer section, Carlson, Cherry Cotton Candy, Nom*D, Mild Red, Charmaine Reveley, Keucke, Dot Com and Love Lies Bleeding.
Elusiv, Firefly and Keita Machine are the three labels showing in the New Generation section. Elusiv, the only menswear label selected for the 2007 ID Show, was worn by INXS lead singer JD Fortune at a recent New Zealand gig.
A recent popular addition to the Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show is the introduction of a special guest section, which last year saw the designs of Zambesi's Elisabeth Findlay grace the catwalk.
An equal highlight of the week is the Vodafone ID Dunedin Emerging Designers Awards, on 9 March 2007. Featuring the work of international and local fashion graduates or final year students, the awards were established to provide a platform to recognise and reward the cutting edge talent of the future.
The sell out show last year is an indication of the interest and degree of talent on show at the awards. Two international entrants, Lucie Marquis of Kingston University London (UK) and Jarno Viitala of the University of Art and Design (Helsinki, Finland) were judged joint winners by an international judging panel.
