Some of the world’s leading wine producers, commentators, chefs and sommeliers will be heading to New Zealand for Pinot Noir 2007. The triennial four-day event, which will be held in Wellington between 29 January and 1 February 2007, is one of the New Zealand wine industry's biggest events.
Pinot Noir 2007 Board Chairman Steve Smith says the event is a must-have on the calendar of anyone with a love of, or involvement with, Pinot Noir.
The event has attracted a high calibre of international speakers and panelists including Brad Farnerie, Executive Chef at New York's Public restaurant, leading wine writers Matthew Jukes (UK), Andrew Caillard (Australia), Poh Tiong (Singapore) and Anthony Dias Blue (USA).
The Pinot Noir 2007 programme features a range of interesting sessions targeted at pinot noir makers, sellers and lovers, interspersed with a variety of tasting opportunities including several tasting sessions of 100 Great NZ Pinot Noir Producers.
As well as providing the opportunity to mingle with over 30 leading wine industry notables, Pinot Noir 2007 features a culinary programme headed by renowned New Zealand chef, Ruth Pretty.
Highlights of the programme’s social events include the Long Lunch with local chefs and celebrities, Best of Aotearoa Showcase cocktail party, a gourmet takeaway Grazing Lunch and the Pinot Noir 2007 Gala Dinner.
Under chef de cuisine, Ruth Pretty, the Gala Dinner will feature top New Zealand produce, seafood, game and lamb and served alongside local white wines and pinot noir. Entertainment will be provided with a showcase of uniquely New Zealand World of WearableArt.
An extended programme of New Zealand summer wine events is also on offer, either side of Pinot Noir 2007. Both Syrah Hawke's Bay (January 27) and Nelson Aromatics Symposium 2007 (February 3) will provide additional opportunities to explore New Zealand’s other prominent wine producing regions.
