Newest Urban Adventure Sure to Thrill

19 Nov 2007

It's not for the faint hearted - New Zealand's latest thrill for adrenalin junkies is open.

The SkyWalk opened 8 December, giving people who like to live life 'on the edge' the chance to walk around the circumference of the SkyTower in Auckland - fifty storeys above ground - attached to just a safety harness.

SKYCITY Auckland which operates SkyWalk, is already known for being a pioneer of urban adventure. It is the first tower in the world to use glass floors, and to host a controlled bungy jump from 192 meters.

SkyCity Auckland Manager, David Christian, says the SkyWalk creates a new type of experience for adventure-seekers.

"While towers elsewhere in the world offer an external walking experience, this is the first in the Southern Hemisphere to do so without rails or balcony, just the safety harness. This really elevates it from a sightseeing experience to an exhilarating adventure."

The attraction is managed by the SkyJump team who run the base jump by wire experience from the Sky Tower and have a 100% safety record.

SkyWalk costs $115.00 and there are group and student discounts available.
