UK fashion boutique embraces Queenstown designer

Queenstown-based designer Claire Brinsley’s first fashion range has been launched overseas by an exclusive UK boutique.
Only six months after its New Zealand debut, Brinsley’s Claire Bloom collection has been enthusiastically received by exclusive Welsh boutique Chiesa.
Located in the Pontcanna district of Cardiff, Chiesa now showcases Brinsley’s lines on the same rails as Europe’s most stylish Italian-themed labels.
The Claire Bloom range is classic and pretty. "I have always loved feminine styles that have an edge, a difference in terms of detailing or some particularly eye catching fabric." Brinsley believes that this point of difference is what will appeal to the UK market.
Chiesa owner Maria Church, mother of famed Welsh singer Charlotte Church, was introduced to the Claire Bloom line by Brinsley’s brother Matthew, a marketer and business owner.
Brinsley’s first collection has made a lasting impression on New Zealand’s fashion scene since its Queenstown launch last October, with growing demand for lines across New Zealand.
"I’m thrilled that the first Claire Bloom range has been so well received in my home country," said Brinsley. "This is an exciting period of growth for me and a real confidence booster.
Originally from Wales, Brinsley has been residing in Queenstown for the past 17 years. Her fashion and style sense, inherent since early childhood, has been honed by working with top pattern maker Kay Turner, professional manufacturers and fabric wholesalers.
Brinsley has a background in marketing and is also a co-owner of The Dairy, a luxury private hotel in central Queenstown.
