Cartoonist joins New Zealand brewery payroll
15 Apr 2007
The Brauhaus Frings brewery in Whangarei has branched out hiring a full time cartoonist and launching its own comic book.
Officially launched on 22 March, the unique comic celebrates 10,000 of beer history through the eyes of a beer aficionado. Traditionally known as a political drink, the comic recognises the role beer has played during crucial points of history.
The project has been a three year collaboration between long time ‘New Zealand Herald’ political cartoonist, Laurence Clark and the owner of Brauhaus Frings, Dennis Frings. The comic is the only one of its kind printed and published in the Northland region.
Dennis Frings arrived in New Zealand six years ago after many years of working for breweries worldwide. He is the only qualified Diploma-Brewmaster in New Zealand.
Brauhaus Frings is Northland’s only full malt brewery and is one of New Zealand’s oldest micro-breweries. All beers brewed on site are made without any additives, preservatives or added sugar.
