The stage is set and the designers chosen for seventh annual Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007.
This year fashion week will showcase the talents of around 60 of New Zealand’s top fashion designers as well as New Zealand’s emerging talent who’ll be presenting their Winter 2008 collection at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour Marine Village from 16-22nd September.
Air New Zealand Fashion Week Managing Director Pieter Stewart says the line-up will include longstanding Fashion Week icons Hailwood, Karen Walker, Carlson, Kate Sylvester, ZAMBESI and Trelise Cooper to the fresh talents of newcomers Chelsea Thorpe, Lonely Hearts Club, Elusiv, Salasai and Love Lies Bleeding.
'Air New Zealand Fashion Week provides a great forum for New Zealand designers, an excellent opportunity for the industry to work together and a strong source of employment. It also encourages investment in the sector and other creative sectors and generates substantial and ongoing returns,' she says.
'Air New Zealand Fashion Week has significantly raised the profile of the fashion industry and has created many off-shoot industries developed through Air New Zealand Fashion Week itself.'
Worth an estimated $23.2million to the New Zealand economy and $19.2million to the Auckland economy, Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007 will feature approximately 60 designers and 36 individual shows, along with the AUT Rookie Show and Verge Breakthrough Designers.
Alongside the Fashion week will be the two day public day Air New Zealand Fashion 4 U, being held on Friday 21 September and Saturday 22nd September which will offer the public the chance to enter the 'Beauty Zone', testing makeup brands, along with a Rumpus Room offering interactive activities.
It will also feature 40 Season Preview Shows for Designers not showing at Air New Zealand Fashion Week. The much-anticipated Designer Garage Sale will also take place this year and will be open to anyone who visits Air New Zealand Fashion Week 4 U.
Fashion Plate will resume its place as the hottest restaurant in town for the duration of Air New Zealand Fashion Week offering live music every night. Alongside will be The Cutting Room - a stylish bar with the latest music DJ’d by the country’s finest mixers.
