Lake Tekapo's multi million dollar Bluewater Resort due to open in November is to be managed by a leading Australasian hotel operator.
The Stella Hospitality Group will operate and manage the 44 million dollar resort under its premium brand name of Peppers.
Situated next to Lake Tekapo in the South Island's McKenzie country, Bluewater Resort offers guests 66 boutique villas, and the developers plan to add another 96 rooms and conference centre next year.
Pepper's New Zealand portfolio includes properties in Rotorua, Taupo, Martinborough, Christchurch and Queenstown.
General Manager, Gunter Steib, says Peppers Bluewater will offer guests luxurious accommodation in a spectacular setting.
"The Bluewater development is very impressive and great care and attention has been placed on the style and finish of the buildings, while still being sensitive to the local landscape," he said.
Local property agent Chris Herbert, who brokered the deal, says the partnership will help bring more visitors to the area.
"Lake Tekapo has been quietly emerging as a prime holiday destination and we are confident that having such a prestigious hotel group on board will be a major catalyst to tourism growth in the region," he said.
The Stella Hospitality Group operates over 150 resorts, retreats, hotels and apartments throughout Australia and New Zealand.
