Conchords in line for second Grammy
10 Dec 2008
New Zealand comedians 'Flight of the Conchords' have received another Grammy nomination just as their latest show is about to debut on-line.
Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are again contenders for best comedy album of the year - this time for their latest album Flight of the Conchords.
The result of the nomination will be known when the 51st annual Grammy Awards are announced on 8 February, 2009.
Second nomination
The Wellington comedians won their first Grammy earlier this year for their EP The Distant Future. The duo's hit television series on the US network HBO has made them world-wide celebrities.
The new season series of 'Flight of the Conchords' is scheduled to begin screening on HBO in January 2009, but a sneak preview of the first episode will première on website funnyordie.com next Wednesday (17.12.08).
A trailer, showing the pair driving along shooting 'criminals', hit the internet in late November.
New baby
While the series was being filmed Clement's wife, Wellington actress and playwright Miranda Manasiadis, gave birth to their first child in New York.
The couple married in Los Angeles earlier this year. Their son has been named Sophocles Iraia Manasiadis Clement after Manasiadis' Greek grandfather. Iraia is understood to be the name of one of Clement's grandparents.
Baby Sophocles has been described as "magnificently cute, with his father's lips".
