New Zealand environmental company among the world's best
15 Apr 2008
A New Zealand company has been named as one of the top 30 carbon offset providers in the world.
Offset the Rest is a Nelson-based company which measures and implements emission reduction initiatives. The carbon credits provided by Offset the Rest support real time emission reductions, promoting a shift from excessive fossil fuel consumption to one based on renewable energy.
The top carbon offset providers were published in the ‘Guide to Carbon Offsets’ by British Company Environmental Data Services (ENDS). This guide is an independent assessment of the voluntary carbon market aiming to help organisations offset carbon emissions in a credible way. The results are based on extensive research and a survey of more than 170 offset providers worldwide.
Offset the Rest is the only company in the Asia-Pacific region to be named in the guide. It is also highlighted as being one of only three companies worldwide to offer exceptional service through its commitment to selling the highest-quality carbon credits.
As a provider of purely CDM Gold Standard credits from renewable energy sources, the company was also rated highly by ENDS for being clear about the source of its offsets, the standards used and the role of offsetting in its strategy.
Offset the Rest is a wholly-owned New Zealand company. In 2007, Jane Peterson and Melissa Munro established the business in response to their growing concern about climate change and global warming.
Peterson and Munro, both mothers, look to create a sustainable future for their young children. They are both passionate about protecting the environment and are determined to make a difference to the climate crisis.
