An on line US golf publication which secretly scouts world facilities in order to give an unbiased rating, has put a positive new spin on New Zealand as an ideal golfing destination.
The in-depth report by Golf Vacation Insider, a sister publication of Golf Odyssey the US monthly magazine that has been anonymously travelling golf courses, resorts and restaurants for 20 years, has not only rated some of the New Zealand courses as the best in the world, but has also set about dispelling the myth that you need lots of time to visit them.
The story entitled ‘Debunking the myth: A whirlwind week in New Zealand’ shows that a New Zealand vacation requires less time and is far easier to arrange than most people believe.
''If you have ever dreamed of taking a golf trip to New Zealand but nixed it because you could not fathom being out of the office for more than five days, this story is required reading. As we discovered on our recent excursion, the common advice that New Zealand holidays require at least two weeks is a myth. Not only is a shorter trip entirely manageable (even from the East Coast of the United States), it will leave you with indelible memories,'' the report reads.
As well as finding a trip to New Zealand more achievable than previously believed, the scouts were also impressed with the North Island properties they visited. They rated Kauri Cliffs in the north of the North Island ‘the finest single course golf resort in the world’ with The Farm at Cape Kidnappers a new contender for the title. Both resorts received A+ ratings. Golf Vacation Insider also visited the new Jack Nicklaus course at Kinloch near Taupo and gave it a B rating, the Wairakei International course a B+, Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club an A- and Titirangi Golf Club in West Auckland was awarded B+.
